OUR STORY

We built the kind of place we would want to stay in.

Last Frontier began in 2015 with a simple idea: to create a small, comfortable place by the sea that felt personal, peaceful and connected to its surroundings. A place we would genuinely enjoy staying in ourselves.

SINCE 2015

Built from the ground up.

When we started Last Frontier, El Nido was a very different place. We built the resort from the ground up, choosing natural materials, traditional nipa roofs and plenty of wood to create something that felt at home in Palawan.

The resort has changed over the years. The garden has grown, rooms have evolved and many details have been improved, but the idea behind Last Frontier has remained much the same.

WHY LAST FRONTIER?

A name inspired by Palawan.

Palawan is often known as “The Philippines’ Last Frontier” for its vast natural landscapes, rich biodiversity, remote islands and relatively unspoiled environment. When we built the resort in 2015, Last Frontier simply felt like the right name for a small place surrounded by the nature of Palawan.

THE GARDEN

Growing with the garden.

Over the years, Last Frontier has grown and changed with the garden around it. Rooms have been updated, bathrooms renovated, furniture replaced and small details continually improved. Meanwhile, the tropical garden has matured around the cottages, becoming an essential part of the place Last Frontier is today.

We’ve kept improving the details without changing what brought us here in the first place.

MADE TO BELONG HERE

Part of the surroundings, not apart from them.

From the beginning, we wanted Last Frontier to feel part of its surroundings, not apart from them. Traditional nipa roofs, wood and natural materials are part of the way the resort was built, while the tropical garden has been allowed to grow and mature around us.

We use local and natural materials wherever possible, reduce unnecessary plastics and keep looking for simple, practical ways to take better care of the environment around us.

THE PEOPLE OF LAST FRONTIER

Warm smiles, unforgettable stays.

A place is more than its rooms, its garden or its view. It’s also the people you meet while you’re there. We like to keep things warm, personal and simple — remembering a name, answering a question or helping when something needs to be sorted out.
